Paul is one part dreamer, one part entrepreneur, and one part athlete. The result? A potent cocktail of creativity, business acumen and work ethic that is equally pleasant whether shaken or stirred. Paul learned the basics of business around the same time he learned to walk, buying things from neighborhood garage sales, refurbishing them at home, and reselling them for a tidy profit at the local swap meet. After graduating from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, he started a series of successful businesses, including an international real estate company, a video production company and a digital marketing firm. As Chief Creative at Guru, Paul runs the development of digital experiences across audio, video, mobile gaming, and AR/VR for a diverse set of cultural institutions. As someone who has worked across many mediums, he believes that AR and VR provide an opportunity for technology and education to combine forces and create truly unforgettable experiences.
To what do you attribute your success: Guru uses AR and digital storytelling to reimagine something many people feel is boring–visiting cultural centers. We work to transform the mundane into something fun and exciting.
One Piece of Advice: Stay laser focused. Set a clear goal. Start simple and increase the complexity as the end user demands it. We made the mistake of building really complex app functionality before our users were ready. Baby steps!
