Bill Carpou is the CEO of OCTANe, a technology and medtech business accelerator focused no the formation, capitalization and growth of early stage companies. Since 2010 OCTANe has created over 5,000 high tech jobs and infused $1.1B of capital in these early stage companies. Prior to joining OCTANe, Carpou was the Managing Partner for TheGreyGroup which he founded and focused on revenue growth and operational improvement of early stage companies. From 2010-2014 Carpou served in an operating partner role at the Blackstone Group including leading a key portfolio company, RGIS. Carpou was recruited to this position by Blackstone and was responsible for all aspects of revenue including sales, marketing, channel expansion, strategic alliances, acquisitions and customer service. His responsibilities were global and led to a successful and profitable transaction.
Prior, Carpou was a Partner at Profit Recovery Partners (PRP). PRP is a privately held professional services firm focused to the identification, negotiation and implementation of a wide range of categories that reduce SG&A. Before joining PRP, Carpou served in a variety of senior executive positions at IKON Office Solutions for 18 years where he led revenue and M&A activities for a variety of key areas within IKON’s global operations. He served as Vice President of Marketing; Vice President of Mid-Market Sales, North America; Vice President & General Manager Southern California; Executive Vice President for the Mid Atlantic Region and Vice President, Sales and Marketing for the companies Northeast Region.
Carpou has had diverse experiences including full P&L responsibility of $255m; sales P&L responsibility of $1B; acquisition responsibility as part of the company’s growth strategy; extensive vendor relationships and negotiations with global suppliers; and leading sales organizations of all sizes to achieve their performance goals. He has also generated significant growth, taking over the company’s most distressed operation in 1998, and leading it to one of the most profitable within IKON. Carpou has experience with public boards and presenting strategic objectives and financial results to investors and Wall Street analysts. Prior to joining IKON Office Solutions, Carpou served as Vice President of Investments for Merrill Lynch in Philadelphia. He also held a variety of sales, marketing and management positions at Xerox Corporation from 1976 to 1990.
Bill Carpou has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Villanova University. He has served on the board of the Barclay Theatre, serves on the Dean’s Advisory Board at the Villanova School of Business and is a member of the Chief Executive Roundtable at the University of California, Irvine. He resides in Laguna Beach, California.
